Abstract
Turizam, kao fenomen te skup aktivnosti turističkih putovanja od davnina je vezan za Europu. Nekad je u povijesti prevladavao masovni turizam, gdje su turisti masovno putovali u jedno odredište i tamo provodili svoje slobodno vrijeme. Turistička potrošnja se ograničavala na podmirivanje osnovnih potreba i kupnju samo neophodnih stvari, a turistička ponuda bila je homogena, statična i jednolična. Razvojem suvremenog turizma i njegovih selektivnih oblika turizam je počeo bilježiti ekspanzivan i kontinuiran rast svugdje u svijetu, pa tako i u Europi. Suvremeni izazovi na zahtjevnom turističkom tržištu nametnuli su potrebu turističkom sektoru da uloži velike napore u razvoj destinacija i njihovu promociju da bi svojom atraktivnošću destinacije mogle privući što više turista.
Abstract (english)
Tourism, as a phenomenon, and a set of activities in tourist travel from ancient times is bound for Europe. Sometimes in history dominated by mass tourism, where tourists traveled massive to a destination and there spent their free time. Tourist spending is limited to meeting the basic needs and buy only necessities, a tourist offer was homogeneous, static and uniform. With the development of modern tourism and its selective forms of tourism began recording expansive and sustained growth throughout the world, including in Europe. Contemporary challenges in the demanding tourist market enforced the tourism sector to make great efforts in the development of destination and their promotion that are attractive destinations could attract more tourists.
