Abstract
In questo lavoro si cerca di dimostrare il pensiero del letterato Baldassare Castiglione nel dibattito intorno alla questione della lingua volgare nel Cinquecento. Prima di analizzare le sue teorie, esposte nel celebre trattato il Libro del Cortegiano, si introduce il letterato e la sua opera. A questa parte, segue la spiegazione e l’elenco delle varie tesi sul volgare che nacquero nel XVI secolo come risposta alla questione della lingua. Nell’analisi del primo libro del Cortegiano vengono approfonditi i contenuti presenti nei capitoli dal XXIX al XXXVIII nei quali il Castiglione espone le sue teorie linguistiche, mostrando una propensione per la teoria cortigiana in cui si propone come modello la lingua parlata nelle corti.
Abstract (english)
This work attempts to demonstrate the thought of the scholar Baldassare Castiglione in the debate around the question of the vernacular Italian language of the sixteenth century. Before starting the analysis of his theories set out in the famous Book of the Courtier, the writer and his primary book are introduced. Then follows the explanation and the list of the various theses on the vernacular language that arose as a response to the question of the language of the sixteenth century. In the analysis of the Courter's first book, chapters from XXIX to XXXVIII are chosen in which Castiglione exposes his linguistic theories, showing a propensity for the courtiers’ theory in which the language spoken in courts is proposed as a model.
