Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Regional policy of the Croatian evolved very slowly, and the awareness of the authorities about it. Inherited problems in regional development from the past are manifested in the uneven development. Due to problems arising from the war, transition, the relationship of the central government to regional and local authorities, regional policy has not proved effective. In recent years, efforts have been made to the Republic of Croatia closer to the European Union, which reflects positively on the harmonization of the concept of regional policy with the European. The analysis of gross domestic product, gross domestic product per capita and the value of investments at the county level can be seen monocentric development with Zagreb as the only center. Zagreb stands out as an economic and social center of this county with the highest gross domestic product and gross domestic product per capita, while the worst are Slavonia County. Croatia still lacks a coherent policy towards the disadvantaged social and economic development.
