Abstract
Značaj kvalitete za poslovanje organizacija raste i razvija se zajedno s napretkom tržišta, poslovanja organizacija, prisutnim trendovima. Kvalitetu je moguće sagledati sa stajališta proizvođača, potrošača, tržišta, države, ali i sa filozofskog stajališta, ekološkog i drugih. Potrošači su ti koji danas postavljaju zahtjeve za kvalitetu koji su i vrlo visoki, a organizacije su primorane zadovoljiti iste kako bi mogle opstati na tržištu. Kvaliteta se prepoznaje kao jednako važna poslovna funkcija kao i ostale. Organizacijama stoje na raspolaganju razni sustavi upravljanja kvalitetom. U ovom radu pojašnjava se pojam kvalitete, njezin razvoj i značaj u današnje vrijeme. Pojašnjavaju se i načela upravljanja kvalitetom i koristi primjene svakog načela. Opisuju se norme i standardi za upravljanje kvalitetom, troškovi te koristi i prednosti koje donosi njihova implementacija, kao i uloga menadžera kvalitete. Kontinuirano praćenje i poboljšavanje kvalitete te zahtjeva za istu, presudno je kako bi organizacije mogle konkurirati na tržištu i održavati pozitivno, dugoročno poslovanje.

The importance of quality in organizations and its business grows and develops along with the progress of the market, operations of organizations, present trends. The quality can be observed from the perspective of producers, consumers, markets, countries, but also from a philosophical, environmental and others points of view. Consumers are the ones who today set up requirements for quality which are also very high. Organizations are forced to meet the same requirements so they can survive on the market. Quality is recognized as equally important business function as well as others. Organizations have on their disposal different quality management systems. In this paper it is explained the concept of quality, its historical development and significance at the present time. Clarifies quality management principles and benefits that each one brings. Standards for quality control are described along with its costs and the benefits that derive from their implementation, as well as the role of quality managers. Continuous monitoring and improvement of quality and its requirements are crucial for the organization to be able to compete on the market and maintain a positive, long-term business.
