Social skills are not behaviour patterns with which we are born but are a lifelong learning process. A lack of social skills may result in various problems in varied situations. They allow an easier interaction with other people, a lighter adjustment to situations not experienced beforehand and a more profound bearing in accordance to scenarios we encounter during our lives. Educators, parents and the child's surroundings are important factors which influence acquiring social skills . Self-control is a social skill which is determined both by genetics and environment. By developing self-control children have an easier time maintaining relationships with others and dealing with frustration and aggression. Based on this research, we can conclude that girls have a more developed sense of self-control than boys. By frequently practicing and repeating games one can, as evidenced in our results, learn and perfect self-control. Boys are more aggressive than girls and have lower self-control. The goal of this research has been to test children's self-control abilities and the ways upon which children react to different tasks. The practical part of this research has been conducted in a kindergarten with 68 children of ages 4,5 and 6 participating. A questionnaire had also been used and was handed to the children's parents to fill out. Results have shown that there is indeed a difference between sexes and age groups when determining self-control abilities.
