Abstract Svrha diplomskog rada je procjena vrijednosti nogometnih klubova. Postupak procjene vrijednosti nogometnih klubova zahtjevan je i kompleksan proces koji zahtjeva veliku stručnost procjenitelja na polju financija, ali i nogometa, odnosno praćenja nogometnog tržišta i nogometnih trendova. Rast popularnosti nogometa diljem svijeta te privlačenje poznatih brendova u obliku sponzora u nogomet doprinijeli su povećanju vrijednosti nogometnih klubova u odnosu na nekadašnju vrijednost. Osim toga, mogućnost da nogometni klubovi posluju kao dionička društva također ima utjecaja na višu vrijednost nogometnih klubova, ali se tako povećao i broj malverzacija u nogometu. Nogomet je na taj način postao biznis i odmaknuo se od svoje prvotne uloge da bude samo sport, zabava i hobi, dok su nogometni klubovi postali „sportska poduzeća“ sa specifičnim načinom i ciljem poslovanja.
Prvi dio rada obuhvatio je teorijski dio, dok je drugi dio praktični. U teorijskom dijelu opisan je pojam procjene, čimbenici koji utječu na procjenu, postupak procjene, sažeti prikaz izvješća o najvrjednijim nogometnim klubovima i nogometnim brednovima te metode procjene nogomentih klubova. U praktičnom dijelu rada prikazan je postupak procjene vrijednosti na primjeru dvaju nogometnih klubova, njemačke Borussie Dortmund i engleskog Manchester Uniteda. Procjena vrijednosti obavljena je na temelju analize financijskih izvještaja odabranih klubova u razdoblju od 01. srpnja 2015. – 30. lipnja 2017. godine, odnosno na temelju sezone 15/16 i 16/17.
Provedenom procjenom vrijednosti Borussie Dortmund i Manchester Uniteda vidljivo je da procijenjena vrijednost uvelike ovisi o ostvarenom plasmanu i osvojenim trofejima te transferima igrača pa je samim time prisutna velika doza subjektivnosti pa je vrlo teško objektivno procijeniti vrijednost nogometnog kluba. Igrači, kao nematerijalna imovina nogometnog kluba zajedno sa vrijednošću brenda kluba čine glavninu vrijednosti nogometnog kluba. Ustanovljeno je također da nogometni klubovi „žive“ od prodaje igrača, sponzora te medijskih prava pa se na taj način nogometu može dodati epitet najpopularnijeg svjetskog sporta.
Abstract (english) The purpose of this paper is to estimate the value of football clubs.The process of value estimation is a demanding and complex process which requires expertise in the fields of finance and football, more specifically understanding the football market and trends in football. The worldwide growth of football’s popularity and attracting famous brands through sponsoring have brought an increase in the value of football clubs. Furthermore, the possibility to operate as a joint stock company has influenced the higher valuation of football clubs and increased the amount of fraudulent practices. This has also turned football into business and it diminished its primary role of a sport and a hobby, while the football clubs have become sports enterprises with a specific way of doing business.
The first part of the paper covers the theoretical part, whilst the second part deals with the practical issues. In the theoretical part, the term value estimation is explained, the factors that influence the value estimation, including the procedure of value estimation, the summarised overview of reports about the most valuable football clubs and brands as well as the methods of evaluation of football clubs. In the practical part of the paper, the value estimation method is used in the example of two football clubs, Borussia Dortmund from Germany and Manchester United from England. The value estimation is published based on the analysis of financial reports of the chosen clubs in the period from 01st July 2015 – 30th June 2017, based on season 15/16 and 16/17.
After completing the value estimation for Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United it is evident that the estimated value greatly depends on the league result performance, trophies won and players’ transfers. Hence a great level of subjectivity is present and it is very difficult to estimate the value of the club objectively. The players, as non-material assets of a football club together with the brand value form the majority of the football club’s value. It has also been determined that football clubs are kept in business through selling players, and by funds of sponsors and media rights so in this way football can be termed as the most popular sport in the world.
