Abstract
Visokoškolsko obrazovanje u Republici Hrvatskoj provodi se na sveučilištima, veleučilištima te visokim školama. Visoka učilišta u Republici Hrvatskoj su sveučilište (fakultet i umjetnička akademija), veleučilište i visoka škola. Sveučilišno obrazovanje obuhvaća preddiplomski sveučilišni studij, diplomski sveučilišni studij i poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij. Sveučilište osniva i provodi sveučilišne studije u najmanje dva znanstvena i/ili umjetnička područja u većem broju polja, kao i interdisciplinarne studije, no može provoditi i stručne studije. Na veleučilištima i visokim školama provode se stručni studiji. Sveučilištem upravlja senat na čelu s rektorom, dok veleučilištima i visokim školama upravljaju upravna vijeća. U Hrvatskoj postoje sveučilišta koja su poludezintegrirana i ona koja su u potpunosti integrirana, odnosno njihove sastavnice mogu biti u manjoj ili većoj mjeri integrirane u ustroj sveučilišta. U Hrvatskoj postoje i javna i privatna visoka učilišta. Ona javna osniva Republika Hrvatska, dok se privatna visoka učilišta osnivaju odlukom osnivača u skladu s propisima. Javna se visoka učilišta financiraju iz državnog proračuna, dok se ona privatna najvećim dijelom financiraju iz sredstava koja ostvaruju svojim poslovanjem.

Higher education in Croatia is based on a binary model and conducted at universities, polytechnics and colleges. University education includes undergraduate university studies, graduate studies and postgraduate studies. University establish and conduct university studies in at least two scientific and / or artistic areas in a number of fields, as well as interdisciplinary studies, but can also conduct professional studies. Professional studies are implemented at polytechnics and colleges. The University is managed by the senate which is led by the rector, while polytechnics and colleges are managed by governing council. There are universities in Croatia that are half disintegrated and those that are fully integrated, and their components can be more or less integrated into the structure of the university. In Croatia, there are public and private higher education institutions. Republic of Croatia establishes the public ones, while the private higher education institutions are established by the decision of the founders in accordance with the regulations. Public higher education is financed from the state budget, while the private one is mostly financed from the resources earned from its own business operations.
