Abstract
Depresija je ozbiljan duševni poremećaj na koji moramo obratiti pozornost. To je prava bolest koja se mora liječiti. Depresija može zadesiti bilo koga, bez obzira na spol ili dob. Ona zahtijeva liječenje jer utječe na cjelokupni život bolesnika, a ako se ne liječi, sve se više pogoršava. Upravo zbog toga je potrebno reagirati na vrijeme. Zbog neupućenosti u depresiju i njene simptome često ju ne prepoznaju ni osobe koje od nje pate, kao ni njihova najbliža okolina. Depresija uzrokuje značajne obiteljske, profesionalne i socijalne poteškoće. Depresija je postala i vrlo čest poremećaj kod djece i mladeži. Depresivno dijete ne može normalno funkcionirati niti izvršavati svoje školske obveze. Depresivnost kod djece jako utječe na njegove kognitivne, socijalne i tjelesne vještine. U depresiji je vrlo bitno da osoba ili dijete koje pati od depresije nije u tome samo. Depresija je bolest sa značajnim postotkom smrtnosti. Podaci govore da i do 15% depresivnih osoba počini samoubojstvo. Stoga depresija zahtijeva ozbiljan pristup, što ranije prepoznavanje i adekvatno liječenje da bi se izbjegle moguće pogubne posljedice. Prema provedenom istraživanju na Integriranom preddiplomskom i diplomskom sveučilišnom učiteljskom studiju na Sveučilištu Jurja Dobrile u Puli moţemo reći kako su studenti, budući učitelji, vrlo dobro educirani o samoj depresiji, njenom prepoznavanju, pristupu i pravilnom liječenju depresije.

Depression is a serious mental disorder to which we must pay attention. It is a real illness that can be treated. Depression can affect anyone, regardless of gender or age. It requires medical treatment because it affects at the entire human life, and if it' not treated, it gets worse and worse. This is why it is necessary to react in time. Due to ignorance of the depression and it's symptoms, it is often not recognized by the people who suffer from it, as well as their surroundings. Depression causes significant family, professional and social difficulties. Depression has become a very common disorder in children and adolescents. Depressed child's ability to function or perform their compulsory education. Depression in children has a significant effect on their cognitive, social and physical skills. A depressed person can not function normally or carry out with his life responsibilities. In the depression is very important that the person or a child who is suffering from depression is not alone. Depression is an illness with significant mortality rate. The data suggest that up to 15% of depressed people commit suicide. Therefore depression requires a serious approach, early recognition and adequate treatment to avoid possible fatal consequences. According to research conducted at the University Jurja Dobrile in Pula, we can say that students of teacher training studies, future teachers are very well educated about the depression, its recognition, the approach and the right treatment of depression.
