Abstract
Suvremeni turizam karakterizira poseban oblik turizma, a to je turizam događaja. Globalizacija, razvoj tehnologije i industrije zahtjeva brze promjene i u turizmu. Posjetitelji sve više teže posjećivati destinacije koje imaju razvijenu ponudu ne samo gastronomsku i sunce i more, nego i osmišljene događaje u kojima bi oni mogli što kvalitetnije provesti svoje vrijeme. Kroz želju za sve većim ljudskim kretanjima, turizam doživljava mnoge promjene baziranim na ponašanju i željama turista. Događaji su oduvijek postojali no danas zahtjevaju posebnu pažnju i organiziranje. Događaji utječu na ekonomski efekt destinacije i na niz drugih prevenstveno misleći na identitet destinacije. Poznati svjetski festivali upravo to i uspjevaju, kroz dobar marketing malo tko danas nije čuo za poznate svjetske manifestacije kao što su Olimpijske igre, Super Bowl ili Dubrovnik kao destinaciju. Suvremeni turist želi osjetiti i vidjeti što više u svom periodu odmora, a Zagreb može upravo to ponuditi. Raznolikost turističke ponude Zagreba privlači različite ciljne skupine posjetitelja i nudi im raznolikost događaja i manifestacija kojih na području Grada Zagreba ima oko 5000 godišnje. Kulturno bogatstvo Zagreba je njegov identitet i veliki potencijal za stvaranje kulturnih događaja.

The modern tourism characterizes a special form of tourism and that is the tourism of events. Globalization, technology and industry development, require a rapid change of tourism too. Visitors increasingly tend to visit destinations that have developed not only their gastronomic offers, sun and sea resorts, but also designed events or happenings in which they could spend time the best they can. Wanting more human movements, tourism is experiencing many changes based on the behaviour and preferences of tourists. Events and happenings have always existed, but today they need special attention and organization. Events are affecting the economic effects of a destination and the number of other effects primarily referring to the identity of a destination. The famous festivals are achieving that, through the good marketing there is no person who didn’t hear about the world famous events such as the Olympic Games, the Super Bowl or Dubrovnik as a destination. The modern tourist wants to see and feel as much as possible on their vacation. Zagreb can offer that. The diversity of Zagreb attracts and target different target groups of visitors and offers them a variety of events and manifestations which Zagreb has about 5000 annually. The cultural wealth of Zagreb is its identity and great potential for the creation of cultural events.
