Abstract Napredak tehnologije, globalna povezanost i novi trendovi sve više utječu na odluke vezane uz putovanja.
Abstract (english) Technological advancements, globalization, and the rise of new trends are increasingly impacting travel choices. Mass tourism, with its occasional adverse effects on destinations, is leading to a growing demand for more selective forms of tourism. This research paper centers on examining the phenomenon of movie tourism and its repercussions on tourist destinations. The advancement of technology within the film industry offers fresh and superior resources that can be harnessed to enhance the filmmaking process itself. With the proliferation of digital connectivity and the emergence of novel viewing platforms, audiences now have access to a diverse array of film and series content. Movie tourism has garnered mounting interest worldwide in recent years. When effectively managed, a movie tourism destination can yield numerous advantages. The initial segment of this paper delves into the theoretical aspects of movie tourism, elucidating the concept of the film tourist and exploring the motivations driving the desire to travel. The subsequent section provides illustrative examples from both international and Croatian contexts, highlighting the profound impact of movie tourism on destination development. Presently, movie tourism serves as a means to address the challenges posed by mass tourism and its sustainability in specific tourist locales. It is also regarded as a tool for elevating the overall quality of tourist and economic infrastructure. Concluding the research, it becomes evident that, with government and local entrepreneurial oversight and support, film tourism, riding the wave of Game of Thrones' popularity, has the potential to contribute to the advancement of Croatian tourism.
To fulfill the objectives of this thesis, an empirical study of the film tourism demand within the youth demographic was carried out. This study aimed to acquire understanding regarding the incentives, routines, and behavior of film enthusiasts, along with their view of Croatia as a film location. The ultimate aim was to evaluate the possibilities for fostering film tourism in Croatia.
