Abstract Novi izazovi, potrebe turista, snažna konkurencija na promjenjivom turističkom tržištu zahtijevaju od turističkih destinacija kontinuirano praćenje promjena i prema potrebi revitalizaciju.
Abstract (english) New challenges, tourist needs, strong competitiveness on the volatile tourism market, require that tourist destinations continuously observe the changes and to implement revitalisation when it is necessary. The aim of this diploma thesis is to present and explain the importance of the revitalisation process in managing tourism development, to analyse the possibilities of tourist destination revitalisation on the example of Republic of Croatia and to investigate in more detail the problems of the labour force in tourism, which represents one of the most important stakeholders in that process. In this work it is confirmed the need to implement the revitalisation constantly in order to avoid the threats of stagnation and uncompetitiveness of the tourist destination, by providing new products/services and creating added value of the existing ones. Theoretical and SWOT analysis of the revitalisation possibilities on the example of the Republic of Croatia have shown numerous potentials, through analysis of different selective types of tourism as the basis for the revitalisation. However, without human resources which will be motivated and educated to initiate the changes it is not possible to have successful implementation. Therefore, the analysis is directed towards issues of the employees in tourism. After the presentation of the problems connected with the emigration of the labour force, in this work are shown the results of the survey which imply on the problems connected with the satisfaction of the employees in tourism that must be processed with the adequate measures of the tourism policy to have more successful results of the revitalisation. If employees resist to changes, due to their misunderstanding, lack of knowledge or willingness, the process won’t be conducted. Bilbao, as the example of good practice, has shown that it is possible to foster and revitalise the economy if the process of revitalisation is planned accurately and implemented carefully.
In this work it is also validated the role of cooperation and active participation of the stakeholders which should give the support in the process of revitalisation, on all levels of managing development. Through revitalisation, the stakeholders of the tourism policy have the possibility and the obligation to use the resources in line with the existing tourism potentials.
