Abstract
Devetnaestostoljetni patentni izum američkog ljekarnika Johna S. Pembertona, sirup u kombinaciji s karboniziranom sodom, proživio je svoju transformaciju od „tonika za živce” do bezalkoholnog pića širokog marketinškog i potrošačkog interesa. Od kada je vlasništvo na patent preuzeo Asa G. Chandler tvrtka se fokusirala na jedan proizvod i jednu marku što se pokazalo izuzetno uspješnim. Dvadesetih godina dvadesetog stoljeća Robert W. Woodruff kao predsjednik kompanije proširuje proizvod na međunarodno tržište. Taktike u načinima oglašavanja bile su jedan od ključnih elemenata Coca-Colinog uspjeha. Od samih početaka promovirale su je poznate osobe iz javnog života, uključujući i vječno veselog Djeda Božićnjaka. Coca- Cola na ondašnje jugoslavensko tržište ulazi u drugoj polovici dvadesetog stoljeća. Ciljano kontinuirano oglašavanje Coca-Cole u onodobnom hrvatskom tisku je usputno ili izostaje. Međutim, usprkos tome uspješno je pronalazila put do potrošača.
Abstract (english)
The 19th century patented medicine, an invention of American pharmacist John S. Pemberton, namely, a syrup combined with carbonated soda, begun its transformation from a „nerve tonic” to a non-alcoholic beverage of broad marketing and consumer interest. Once Asa G. Chandler took over the ownership of the patent, the company producing the drink turned profitable by focusing solely on branding one single product. Robert W. Woodruff becoming the company's new president from 1920s saw the expansion of the company to the international market. Advertising tactics were one of the keys elements of Coca-Cola's success. From very early on, Coca-Cola has been endorsed by celebrities, including the eternally-cheerful Santa Clause. Coca-Cola arrived at the Yugoslav market in the second half of the 20th century. Continuous targeted advertising of Coca-Cola in the Croatian press at the time was incidental or absent. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola successfully found its way to the consumer.
