The concept of entrepreneurship dates back to the distant past and is further developed and improved over the years. It refers to the process of developing and managing a business venture by accepting possible risks, all with the aim of gaining appropriate rewards in monetary and personal satisfaction. Entrepreneurs, whose skills and knowledge lead to the adoption of innovative ideas in the market, play a key role in the economy. Nowadays, there is a need to encourage entrepreneurship, and for this purpose the European Union, through various programs and funds, allocates more and more financial aids and support. SMEs and Entrepreneuship Policy Center (CEPOR) provides a cleared picture of trends and patterns of change related to entrepreneurship in Croatia. GEM research, which every year in the form of a report provides insight into indicators of entrepreneurial activity and entrepreneurial environment of all countries involved, clearly shows the situation in Croatia, emphasizing, according to the latest published results, an enviable result of perceiving opportunities and personal ability to start a business. as a long-term unfavorable characteristic of the Croatian economy, he cites the low presence of 'adult' companies.
