This paper deals with the creation of a transpiler that translates the XMILE format into Kotlin and vice versa. The transpiler will be used within the Kotlin System Dynamics Toolkit (ksdtoolkit) developed at the Faculty of Informatics in Pula. The history of system-dynamics and significant personalities through the history of system-dynamics, such as Jay Forrester, who was the founder of the system-dynamics, are described. The paper also deals with the concept of XMILE format and describes in detail the tags and attributes that are necessary for its translation. The ksdtoolkit itself is explained: The differences between it and XMILE format in terms of constructing the system-dynamic models are also explained. The differences between the transpiler itself, the interpreter and the compiler are also described in order to further clarify what a transpiler actually is. Various translation concepts such as lexer, parser and grammar are covered. The paper also describes system dynamics, system-dynamic models and explains how certain technologies were used, such as the Kotlin programming language, unit tests, and integration tests.
