Započinje analizom samog pojma mračnog turizma, definirajući ga kao oblik turizma koji uključuje prikazivanje i potrošnju stvarnih i komercijaliziranih mjesta smrti i katastrofe. Ovdje se istražuju različiti oblici mračnog turizma, uključujući tematske parkove, mračne izložbe, tamnice, groblja, mjesta ratnih sukoba, genocida te druge oblike tamnog turizma. Drugi dio teksta analizira motivacije mračnih turista i načine kako se regulira ponuda i potražnja ovakvih atrakcija. Istražuje zašto ljudi posjećuju mjesta povezana s tragedijama te kako se turistička industrija prilagođava ovoj potražnji. Također, postavlja se pitanje etičnosti iskorištavanja mjesta tragedije u svrhu turizma i zarade, pri čemu se naglašava subjektivna i kompleksna priroda ovog pitanja. U trećem dijelu teksta daju se primjeri mračnog turizma iz SAD-a, Europe i Japana, uz vizualne prikaze, kako bi se bolje ilustrirao koncept mračnog turizma. Ovdje se istražuju konkretni primjeri turističkih destinacija i atrakcija koje privlače mračne turiste. Na kraju zaključuje se da je mračni turizam prihvatljiv oblik turizma ako se teme obrađuju s poštovanjem prema žrtvama te da ima značajan razvojni potencijal za turističke destinacije. Autor također potvrđuje hipotezu rada da je mračni turizam relevantan i važan oblik turizma u suvremenom svijetu. Less Abstract (english) The text delves into the complex phenomenon of dark tourism, which represents a relatively new form of tourism. It begins by analyzing the concept of dark tourism itself, defining it as a form of tourism that involves the presentation and consumption of real and commercialized sites of death and disaster. It emphasizes that dark tourism is a result of changes in tourist demand, with travellers increasingly seeking new and unusual experiences. Furthermore, the text is divided into three
... More main parts. The first part focuses on explaining the history and development of dark tourism, along with its subdivisions and categories. Various forms of dark tourism are explored here, including theme parks, dark exhibitions, prisons, cemeteries, sites of conflict, genocide, and other forms of dark tourism. The second part of the text analyzes the motivations of dark tourists and how the supply and demand for such attractions are regulated. The paper investigates why people visit places associated with tragedies and how the tourism industry adapts to this demand. Additionally, it raises the question of the ethics of exploiting places of tragedy for tourism and profit, highlighting the subjective and complex nature of this issue. In the third part of the text, examples of dark tourism from the United States, Europe, and Japan are provided, along with visual representations, to better illustrate the concept of dark tourism. Concrete examples of tourist destinations and attractions that attract dark tourists are explored. In conclusion, it is asserted that dark tourism is an acceptable form of tourism as long as the themes are handled with respect for the victims and that it has significant developmental potential for tourist destinations.
