As one of the social skills, communication is important in life of any person. It enables mutual connecting of people, but also the development of themselves as units. Even though communication includes verbal and non-verbal aspect, it is insufficient by itself; it is connected tight and develops parallel with active listening and empathy. Children who develop and perfect social skills from the early age can establish better relations far more easily, and deal with everyday demands already in early age and further on during their whole life. With a goal of determining current level and to stimulate further development of mentioned skills, practical work was conducted with children of kindergarten age, precisely because in that period the foundations for later life are being placed. Through practical work in duration of two weeks and through ten conducted workshops, it has been influenced on development of verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening and empathy. Practical work proved to be successful, and through it has been shown how continuous work with time brings results, and how already in early age they can and need to start developing social skills. Further research with children is recommended on this topic, and this thesis can be used as one of the guidelines.
