Komunikacija u medicinskom timu zahtijeva, uz stručna znanja, i posjedovanje komunikacijskih vještina koje značajno olakšavaju zahtjevan i odgovoran rad medicinskih timova.
Abstract (english) | Effective communication between medical teams is of great importance for providing quality patient care. Health centers are an important segment of health care, and teams encounter many complex situations daily. Communication in the medical team requires, in addition to professional knowledge, the possession of communication skills that significantly facilitate the demanding and responsible work of medical teams. Adequate communication affects the connection of medical teams and the final results of work, and has a healing effect on patients. Ineffective communication within the medical team is perceived by the patients themselves, which consequently affects their attitude towards the medical staff as well as trust in the competence of the medical teams.
The main goal of this work is to examine the effectiveness of communication within the medical teams of the Istrian health centers. The specific goals, which derive from the main goal, are aimed at testing the hypothesis whether doctors and nurses differ in the perception of communication within the same work team, examining satisfaction with communication within the medical team, and determining proposals for improving communication within the medical team.
Methods and respondents: For the purposes of the research, a survey questionnaire was used in printed paper form, and was handed to the responsible persons of the Istrian health centers, and then it was handed to the doctors and nurses/technicians of the Istrian health centers. It includes doctors and nurses/technicians who work in the general, specialist and inpatient offices of the Istrian health centers. Respondents filled out the questionnaire voluntarily and anonymously. 163 healthcare workers participated in the research, of which 44 were doctors and 118 were nurses/technicians.
The results of this research show better, that is, higher results and a more positive perception among doctors, compared to those among nurses/technicians. Doctors of the Istrian health centers perceive the quality of communication within health teams to be extremely high, while nurses/technicians' perception of quality on the scale is somewhat lower, but they also show satisfaction with communication within the team. Doctors who work longer in the current team report a higher level of satisfaction with communication. The leading factor preventing effective communication, cited by the respondents themselves, is the lack of time for communication.
Doctors and nurses of the Istrian health centers are satisfied with the communication in their team, doctors show greater satisfaction with communication in the team compared to nurses/technicians. The quality of communication depends on the communication skills of each team member and the personal commitment of the members of the medical team in communication interactions. Quality communication affects the degree of satisfaction with the work done by all team members, as well as the perception of the quality of care provided by patients. |
