The idea behind this final work was from my long-standing business activity in the field of design, construction and maintenance of information systems, as well as personal participation in the construction and consolidation of the data center of the City. Excellent knowledge of the business processes of the city administration, city companies and institutions as well as the enthusiasm of their management for the development of a stable and modern ICT system has greatly contributed to the construction of such a data system. The system that many local self-government units would like to have. This final work deals with the consolidation of the data center, which is the basis for the information business of the City and of the city companies and institutions. It's an IT system that concentrates and manages city administration, city companies, and institutions, elementary and high school, kindergarten and sports center through its own built MetroEthernet optical infrastructure - creating a stable infrastructure for the development and use of unified business information systems. Apart from the basics of building a data center, citing the current standards for buildin it, this final work describes the growth and development of the ICT system of the city and city companies since the first computer application. Through the development phase, the first data center has emerged as well as the first application of virtualization technology. The city administration system and city companies and institutions increasingly rely on their IT operations, demanding their stability, security and availability as well as openness to various business information systems. It was the need for growth and the development of business processes that influenced the growth and development of information technology, requiring consolidation of the data center and thus the creation of an information environment for the stable and secure execution of business information systems.
