Non-verbal communication at home and in the classroom is extremely important for a child's emotional, social and intellectual development. Simple things like hugging, kissing, smiling, or holding hands reinforce positive trust in children. Although positive nonverbal communication is common and natural, it is also negative. Frowning, waving fingers, etc. can also affect the child's perception of emotions. This is important because it reinforces the verbal message to the child. Children begin to understand that a smile means "you're doing well" and a frown means "what you're doing is unacceptable". Therefore, non-verbal communication is a very powerful weapon in working with children. Non-verbal communication must be performed correctly so that children do not get into a situation where they cannot interpret the signs that adults send them.
