Tax accounting is a part of the accounting branch whose focus is the system of tax records and budgets, in accordance with the relevant legal regulations. Accounting profession in the Republic of Croatia is self-regulated, so the legal framework has so far not conditioned the certification of the profession. This means that the foundation of the accounting profession is the existing education system, which is secondary school and higher education institutions and faculties. Today, professional associations that promote the position and reputation of aparticular profession are increasingly being formed. In the Republic of Croatia, accounting profession has not been fully edited, and in the society there are conclusions that everyone can deal with this business. This is why licensing of accountants isproposed, which, among other things, raises the issue of tax accounting education that would no longer be self-regulated, but would be mandatory for accountants.
