La tesi è strutturata in otto capitoli, dove nel primo capitolo viene descritta la vita, le opere e la pedagogia di Maria Montessori. Nel secondo capitolo viene introdotto il ruolo dell'educatrice montessoriana, la preparazione necessaria per diventarlo e l'introduzione di materiali nel processo educativo dei bambini. Nel terzo capitolo viene descritta l'educazione del bambino: l'educazione dei sensi, il silenzio, i benefici del contatto con la natura e l'educazione alla libertà. Nel quarto capitolo viene mostrato lo sviluppo del bambino durante la sua infanzia. Nel quinto e sesto capitolo vengono elencati i materiali montessoriani e i giochi e le attività che si possono svolgere con i bambini. Nel settimo capitolo viene descritta la casa del bambino, di come Maria Montessori abbia iniziato la sua prima casa nel quartiere di San Lorenzo a Roma e di come tutt'oggi ci siano queste case in tutto il mondo. Nell’ ottavo capitolo vengono esposte le critiche che la Montessori ha ricevuto durante la sua carriera. La tesi si conclude con la parte sperimentale che ha lo scopo di osservare come i bambini si comportano con il materiale e il loro livello di apprendimento in base alla loro età. La mia conclusione è che l'educazione dei bambini al giorno d'oggi è l'argomento che coinvolge sia i bambini che gli adulti, la cui massima importanza è aggiornarsi e andare sempre avanti con la conoscenza.

My thesis is divided into eight chapters; the first chapter describes life, works and pedagogy of Maria Montessori. The second chapter introduces the role of the Montessori teacher, the necessary preparation for becoming one and the introduction of materials in the educational process for children. The third chapter describes the children's education: sensorial education, silence, advantages of being in contact with nature and education toward liberty. The fourth chapter shows the development of children during their childhood. The fifth and sixth chapter include a list of Montessori's materials and games as well as activities for children. The seventh chapter describes Casa dei Bambini (Children's House), how Maria Montessori found her first casa in the neighborhood of San Lorenzo in Rome and how come to this day there are children's houses all over the world. The eighth chapter presents criticism of Montessori education that she encountered during her career. The thesis concludes with the experimental part which aims to observe how children behave with the material and their level of learning based on their age. My conclusion is that nowadays children's education is a subject that involves children and adults both, and its highest importance is keeping up to date and pursuing knowledge.
