The easiest way for humans to interact is through language. As humans grow up, they learn more and more about their language and, in time, master it. However, no one is perfect at a particular language. One may know every word in the dictionary and every grammatical rule but still make mistakes while speaking. Lapsus language mainly occurs when a person is stressed and under pressure. Nevertheless, it can also happen in normal circumstances. We can learn more about speech production by understanding the phenomena of lapsus linguae. The aim of writing this paper is to give insight to readers into the fascinating occurrences that are lapsus linguae. Furthermore, in this paper, I broadened the topic to children’s and older adult’s slips of the tongue to show the influence age has on their occurrence. Not only do slips reveal much about one’s native language, but they also broaden the understanding of the process of second language acquisition. I also delved into the field of literature to show how lapsus linguae influence the artistic field and how it can be used to enrich stories.
