The subject of this thesis is a new type of economy called “sharing economy“, as well as couchsurfing as an innovative accommodation concept. In the theoretical part of the thesis sharing economy and couchsurfing are conceptually explained, with an accent on types of sharing economy in hospitality. Chosen example of sharing economy i san American company Airbnb, which offers various accommodation units for some commission, which is not the case with couchsurfing, which rests on disallowance of money payments and its main goal is to put the accent on sharing human relations. Airbnb is a strong competition for traditional hospitality industry which is worried about its business results due to growth of Airbnb trend on the Internet. It may also be seen how demand for this type of accommodation is bigger than for hotel accommodation because it is cheaper and gives quests multiple options and freedom. It is expecting that the value of sharing economy and her services will grow from current 15 billion to 335 billion USD until 2025 and it will get even with the value of traditional touristic services.
