Abstract U literaturi postoje razne definicije turizma.
Abstract (english) There are various definitions of tourism in the literature. The very concept of tourism is closely related to personal perception and is most often associated with free time and leisure. The generally accepted definition of tourism is: "Tourism is a set of relationships and phenomena that arise from the travel and stay of visitors to a specific place, if this stay does not lead to permanent residence and is not associated with any economic activity." The development of tourist travel is visible through a historical overview, and as trends in tourism change from decade to decade, new forms of tourist offer are being developed. Even though there are many kinds of tourism, the two main types are mass and individual tourism (i.e. niche tourism, special interest tourism or selective tourism). Both the choice of a tourist destination and the travel experience are influenced by several factors. Some of the most important factors are the individual characteristics of people who travel, the interpersonal relationships of people on a particular trip, different situational factors such as human characteristics and different aspects of the destination, and the transport choices to the destination. A very important factor that is responsible for making travel decisions is tourism motivation. There are various theories that try to explain the reason, or reasons why people choose to travel, among the most famous are theories of push and pull factors and the model of escape and search. The current situation with the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) had and still has a strong impact on global tourism. As a matter of fact, the pandemic has brought about strong changes in people’s daily lifestyles. Namely, in terms of tourism and travel, the research performed as a part of this thesis suggests that the impact of a pandemic on travel motivation varies greatly from person to person. Measures of social distancing and mobility restrictions, put in place by legislative and health authorities, have discouraged travel and made people reluctant to travelling. Namely, despite imposed obstacles, the research confirmed that most people plan their trip regardless of the situation.
