The Mutvica pump station is a necessary part of the Labin water supply system and supplies the Fonte Gaja pump station via the transport pipeline. The paper describes the problems of the Mutvica pump station and presents a new conceptual solution for the pump drive for the aforementioned problems that arise. Electric motor drives, operation of a three-phase asynchronous cage motor, frequency converter, and submersible pump are described. According to the existing pumps, frequency converters were selected and a schematic representation of the new conceptual solution was presented. The installation of frequency converters would solve the problems of the impossibility of regulating the flow, the operation of the pump in the area of low efficiency, and the traction current of the electric motor would be reduced. An analysis of the inrush current and rotation speed characteristics during various ways of starting a three-phase asynchronous electric motor at idle speed was performed. The change in the rotation speed of the electric motor using the frequency converter in relation to the voltage value at the analog input is shown. The change in the rotation speed of the electric motor by manually entering the desired rotation speed is also shown. The test was carried out in the company SISTEMA d.o.o.
