Abstract | Karcinom debelog crijeva je ozbiljna i sve češća maligna bolest s visokim rizikom smrtnosti. Postoji nekoliko faktora rizika povezanih s razvojem karcinoma debelog crijeva. To uključuje genetsku predispoziciju, osobito ako postoje obiteljske povijesti karcinoma debelog crijeva ili genetskih sindroma kao što je Lynchov sindrom. Loše prehrambene navike, uključujući dijetu bogatu crvenim mesom i siromašnu vlaknima, pušenje, pretilost i nedostatak tjelesne aktivnosti, također povećavaju rizik. Simptomi karcinoma debelog crijeva mogu uključivati promjene u probavi, krvarenje iz crijeva, bol u trbuhu i promjene u stolici. Dijagnostički postupci uključuju kolonoskopiju, CT, UZV abdomena i testiranje stolice. Liječenje obično uključuje kirurški zahvat, kemoterapiju i radioterapiju, ovisno o stadiju bolesti. |
Abstract (english) | Colorectal cancer is a serious and increasingly common malignant disease with a high risk of mortality. Several risk factors are associated with the development of colorectal cancer, including genetic predisposition, especially if there is a family history of colorectal cancer or genetic syndromes such as Lynch syndrome. Unhealthy dietary habits, including a diet rich in red meat and low in fiber, smoking, obesity, and a lack of physical activity, also increase the risk. Symptoms of colorectal cancer may include changes in bowel habits, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, and alterations in stool consistency. Diagnostic procedures include colonoscopy, abdominal CT scans, abdominal ultrasound and stool testing. Treatment typically involves surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, depending on the stage of the disease. Prevention plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of developing this cancer, and one of the most important steps is regular participation in screening and early detection programs if available. Promoting awareness among the public about the importance of screening, healthy eating, and lifestyle can contribute to reducing the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer. |
